A collection of classics including works by Handel, Mendelssohn, Vaughan Williams, and Bernstein, as well as folk songs from the Americas, Europe and Africa. As always, this concert features Choral Project favorites from years past, as well as works that are fresh and new to our singers and audience.

The Choral Project is honored to take part in the Santa Clara Chorale Guest Artist Series showcases, featuring outstanding regional volunteer and professional vocal ensembles in concert in the beautiful Santa Clara Mission Church. Come spend and evening with The Choral Project, and hear us share the stage with some of the Bay Area's best choral groups in concert together.

Château Julien Holiday Spectacular

A hallmark of the holidays! Once again, Château Julien and The Choral Project combine to offer a delightful concert celebration sure to put you in the holiday spirit. The Choral Project will perform a program of festive music among the oak aging barrels and ideal acoustics of the Chai, Château Julien's wine cellar. A reception of Private Reserve wine, hors d'oeuvres and mingling with the Choir will follow amidst the holiday ambiance of the beautifully decorated Château. Join us in this truly special performance. Seating is limited and reservations are required.

We are delighted to share the stage once again with the San José Chamber Orchestra as we present our annual winter musical offering. Drawing on the universality of celebrations of light during the winter season, The Choral Project and San José Chamber Orchestra will create a rich tapestry of relevant works with which to celebrate the holidays. Selections include works by Bach, Praetorius, and Mendelssohn, as well as traditional music to celebrate the season.

Heaven and Earth

In a special one-night only performance at the magnificent Mission Santa Clara de Asis, The Choral Project will offer a concert of light in sound, warmth in music, and healing in song. The concert will feature John Rutter's beautiful and consoling Requiem, performed with an orchestra comprised of the Silicon Valley's finest players. Other works include music by Alberto Ginestera, René Clausen, Arvo Pärt and Paul Basler. Come wrap yourself in a blanket of warm sound.

Affair of the Art

Affair of the Art is The Choral Project's annual benefit & silent auction. The money raised at this event supports the pursuit of educating young singers and expanding awareness and appreciation of choral arts for Bay Area audience and beyond, living its Vision to "heal our world through music and words." This year, we are shooting for the stars … Broadway stars, that is. We are thrilled to have Grammy and Oscar-winning songwriter Stephen Schwartz (Wicked, Godspell, Pippin) at the piano performing his own work in a cabaret-style performance. Auction and raffle items include a 6-day photo safari in Africa, weekend getaways, an Apple iPod, lovely gift baskets, and much, much more!

The Choral Project branches out in a new direction as we conclude our 2007-2008 season with a program of spirituals, gospel music, and songs that honor Africa. Selections will include gems such as "Deep River," "All My Trials," and "Ain'-a That Good News," as well as gospel music by Mary Watkins, Jeff Majors and Rickie Byers Beckwith. Legendary Bay Area soloist Michelle Jordan will join The Choral Project in this first-time kind of event.
